ICYMI: AFP’s Ross Connolly on the “Mamdani Effect” Spreading Across the Northeast

Boston, MA — Americans for Prosperity (AFP) Northeast Region Director joined the Jim Polito Show to break down the “Mamdani Effect”—the spread of Democratic Socialist policies from New York City into states across the Northeast and New England.

Key excerpts:

“Freedom is the solution, not more government control. This is really what it comes down to is the politics of envy. The DSA candidates are for punishing success rather than creating an environment where more can be successful. We’re saying the American Dream is still alive and well. You just have to get government out of the way to be able to have the average middle-class family be able to afford the things that they want and want to achieve in their American Dream.”

On socialism spreading beyond NYC into the Northeast:

“We’ve experienced these exact policies that these candidates, whether it’s Mamdani or Bernie Sanders in Vermont, are trying to now export beyond the borders of the Northeast to states across the country. Yet we have the experience right here in the Northeast that these policies do not work.”

On affordability and government control:

“Every time we see an expansion of government, whether it’s in healthcare or energy, as we experience here in the Northeast, prices go up. More government is not the solution to your affordability problems. It will be the exact cause of them.”

On the Northeast’s socialism exodus:

“We saw for decades people fleeing socialist governments across the world. We’re seeing that exactly here today. People in the Northeast and New England fleeing these socialist policies. Whether it’s energy mandates, top-down government control in Vermont, where 42% of Vermonters now want to leave the state.”
