Pierre, SD — Americans for Prosperity–South Dakota (AFP–SD) continued its 2026 grassroots engagement momentum with two back-to-back property tax-focused town halls over President’s Day weekend. Gov. Larry Rhoden joined AFP-SD for the events in Sioux Falls and Dakota Dunes to hear input from regular South Dakotans as the legislature continues the debate on how to alleviate the strain of property taxes in the Mount Rushmore State.
“Progress on the property tax issue begins with listening to the people affected,” AFP-SD State Director Jennifer Beving said. “Our events this weekend with Governor Rhoden were just the beginning. Now comes the work of putting what we learned into practice for more meaningful outcomes for South Dakotans.”
Property taxes and taxation transparency are principal concerns under AFP-SD’s Rushmore Roadmap policy agenda. AFP-SD remains committed to supporting commonsense legislation that will ease South Dakotans’ tax burdens and inform them on how their money is spent.
