New Orleans, LA – Americans for Prosperity–Louisiana (AFP-LA) and its sister organization, Concerned Veterans for America (CVA), celebrated our nation’s heroes alongside special guest and retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell. The evening honored local veterans, active-duty military members, Gold Star families, and generations of Americans whose service and sacrifice have protected the freedoms we have enjoyed for 250 years.
The event also featured remarks from Rep. Dixon McMakin, Louisiana Secretary of Veterans Affairs Charlton J. Meginley, Col. (Ret.) USAF, and Glenn Jacobs, former Knox County Mayor.
AFP-LA State Director Scott Simon said the following:
“We owe our nation’s veterans and active-duty military a great debt of gratitude for all that they sacrificed, including their families. Last night, AFP-LA was honored to host retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell and local veterans—a reminder that their leadership and their voices didn’t end when they took off the uniform.
“Our freedom wasn’t free. Brave men and women paid for it with courage and sacrifice, putting everything on the line for the rest of us, and many are still giving back and serving their communities today. Tonight was our small way of saying thank you and to honor their legacy.”
CVA Brand Development Director David Huston said:
“I followed in the footsteps of many men in my family when I earned the title Marine. One of my grandfathers served with the 4th Marines during World War II and was wounded at Iwo Jima, earning the Purple Heart.
“In the military, we relied on one another, knowing our shared effort could achieve what none of us could alone. That lesson still applies after we take off the uniform. As we honor my grandfather’s generation and mark 250 years of American independence, we should remember that preserving what they fought for is a responsibility we all share. Every generation has a role to play in carrying that legacy forward.”
