ICYMI: AFP-AZ Hosts “Beat the Heat” Energy Event in Tucson, Calls on Arizona Senators to Address Rising Energy Costs

TUCSON, AZ — Last week, Americans for Prosperity–Arizona (AFP-AZ) and the LIBRE Initiative hosted a “Beat the Heat” community event in Tucson, gathering local residents and advocates to spotlight the growing burden of rising energy costs and push for federal permitting reform in Arizona.

The event brought together families and community members for an evening that paired policy engagement with live music and family-friendly activities. Attendees had the chance to receive up to $100 in electricity bill assistance, putting a direct focus on the financial strain facing Arizona households as a result of surging utility prices.

AFP-AZ State Director Stephen Shadegg released the following statement:

“Tucson families joined AFP-AZ at an outdoor venue on a weeknight because they are tired of watching their utility bills climb with no relief in sight. That kind of response reflects real urgency, and it deserves a serious response from the senators who claim to represent the people of Arizona. AFP-AZ is proud to have provided relief to the families who received $100 off their next electricity bill, but the fact remains that this kind of assistance should not be necessary.

“Senators Gallego and Kelly have a choice: continue defending the regulatory barriers driving energy costs higher, or advance permitting reform that increases energy production and lowers costs for Arizona families. AFP-AZ will continue fighting for affordable energy until Washington finally delivers the relief Arizonans deserve.”
