End the Iran Conflict and Refocus on What Matters Most to Americans: Driving Down Costs

WASHINGTON, DC – In response to reports of escalation by Iran and continued exchanges of fire in the Strait of Hormuz, AFP Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner issued the following statement:

“Our armed forces have achieved significant military successes throughout this campaign. The sooner this conflict comes to an end, the sooner Washington and the administration can focus on what matters most: driving down costs. Americans overwhelmingly want to see this conflict come to a close, and Washington owes them a genuine path to get there.

“The current economic impacts have been severe. Gas prices have surged more than 40 percent. Fertilizer costs have spiked as much as 50 percent. The ripple effects across energy, food, and transportation are hitting family budgets hard — and every day on a wartime footing makes it worse.

“This has already been a wakeup call for most Americans. We urge the administration and Congress to pursue every avenue to wind down hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and strategically bring American troops home. And then turn with urgency to the issue that voters in every state rank as their number one concern: making life more affordable.”

AFP’s Affordability Agenda: The Roadmap Forward

Americans for Prosperity, the LIBRE Initiative, and Concerned Veterans for America have launched a multi-million dollar nationwide grassroots and advertising campaign to rally Americans and lawmakers around a concrete, pro-growth policy roadmap to lower costs — without new spending or higher taxes.

AFP’s Affordability Agenda focuses on four pillars:

This isn’t just sound policy — it’s smart politics.

These are practical, popular reforms with broad appeal across Republicans, Independents, and Democrats. AFP urges every Member of Congress to embrace this agenda and join us out in the states — at grassroots events and in their communities — to show the American people that they understand their concerns and have a plan to address them. The window to lead on this issue is open. The time to act is now.
