Montpelier, Vermont — Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) applauds Governor Phil Scott’s Executive Order 05-26, which modernizes Vermont’s healthcare laws and directs state agencies to start using their existing authority to lower costs.
AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly said:
“Vermonters have struggled with some of the highest health insurance premiums in the nation. Today, Governor Scott took action to provide relief to Vermonters through this Executive Order, which will modernize the state’s healthcare laws by directing state agencies to use existing regulatory authority to expand choices and lower costs. This order, coupled with legislative action to provide practical reforms, will ensure Vermont builds a healthcare marketplace that works for all Vermonters.”
“AFP thanks Governor Scott for his actions and calls on the legislature to go further. This past legislative session we saw the opposite from the legislative majority. Passing bills to increase regulations and limit competition will only lead to higher costs for Vermont patients.”
