CHARLESTON, W.Va. —Americans for Prosperity–West Virginia (AFP-WV) is launching a statewide awareness campaign, thanking state lawmakers who voted to put money back in the pockets of West Virginia taxpayers with another round of personal income tax cuts. The campaign will highlight lawmakers who supported income tax relief during the 2026 legislative session.
During the 2026 legislative session, lawmakers approved a 5% reduction in the state’s personal income tax, providing approximately $125 million in much-needed tax relief. The latest reduction builds on a series of income tax cuts in recent years aimed at allowing West Virginians to keep more of what they earn.
AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman released the following statement:
“Tax cuts equal economic growth because West Virginians can spend their hard-earned money better than the government ever could. Lawmakers were right to return $125 million to Mountaineers so they can better invest in their version of the American Dream as the Mountain State marches one step closer to being the next zero-income-tax state.”
AFP-WV Deputy State Director Matt Gallagher added:
“Taxpayers work hard and sacrifice much; they already contribute more than their fair share in taxes to keep state government running. When lawmakers vote to let West Virginians keep their own money, we want taxpayers to know which lawmakers stood up for them and to give those lawmakers the recognition they deserve.”

This includes thanking lawmakers when they champion pro-growth policies and admonishing politicians that backslide on providing West Virginians with more freedom and opportunity.
