Olympia, WA – Americans for Prosperity-Washington (AFP-WA) today expressed disappointment in Governor Ferguson’s decision to sign into law over $12 billion in new taxes and fees, contradicting his earlier commitments to keep taxes low for Washingtonians.
AFP Western Region Director Heather Andrews issued the following statement:
“Governor Ferguson’s decision to approve over $12 billion in tax hikes is a clear betrayal of his promise to protect Washington families from higher taxes. After four years of ‘Bidenomics,’ rampant inflation, and economic uncertainty, Governor Ferguson doubled-down on tax and spend policies that only make life more difficult for Washingtonians struggling to make ends meet.
“Washington already ranks among the least competitive states in terms of tax burden. Now, Governor Ferguson and his allies in the legislature are growing government slush funds rather than delivering real relief and letting Washingtonians keep more of their hard-earned money. AFP will continue to advocate for better policies and lower taxes that increase economic opportunity because Washingtonians deserve better than big government tax hikes.”
