Pierre, SD — Americans for Prosperity–South Dakota (AFP–SD) commended state lawmakers for publicly unveiling the state’s version of the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, filed as Senate Bill (SB) 133. AFP-SD State Director Jennifer Beving applauded Senator Sue Peterson for introducing the bill and encouraged the legislature to promptly consider it.
“South Dakota has always been a top state for low regulations, and we hope to keep it that way by passing the REINS Act,” Beving said. “The bill adds a commonsense cost/benefit analysis to rules and regulations and gives both the people impacted and the legislature the ability to weigh in when a proposed rule might carry a significant economic impact on South Dakotans. This bill ensures favorable economic conditions for individuals and business owners alike.”
As a key fixture of its Rushmore Roadmap agenda, AFP-SD is leading the way in advocating for passing the REINS Act in the Mount Rushmore State. Just last week, dozens of lawmakers attended an AFP-SD dinner focused on the REINS Act where they learned about the benefits of the bill and why South Dakota should remain a low regulation state. While the REINS Act begins its journey through the legislature, AFP-SD will continue working with lawmakers and everyday South Dakotans to make sure the bill makes it across the finish line.
