OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Americans for Prosperity-Oklahoma (AFP-OK) today celebrated the launch of Guidance.ok.gov, a new online portal where Oklahomans can search and review the guidance documents issued by state agencies, including those received from federal agencies. The website follows the launch last week of Rules.OK.gov, which empowers Oklahomans on the state’s administrative rulemaking process
The portal was created by Senate Bill 1433, which was signed by Gov. Kevin Stitt and sponsored by Sen. Micheal Bergstrom (R-1) and Rep. Rob Hall (R-67). Under the law, agencies subject to Articles I and II of Oklahoma’s Administrative Procedures Act must submit their guidance documents to the Secretary of State every quarter. The Secretary of State then publishes them online in an electronic, indexed, searchable form.
The portal gives Oklahomans the tools to stay informed on the latest policy guidance that shapes their lives. It also gives them certainty. When agency directives are public and easy to find, families, workers, and job creators know what’s expected of them, can plan and invest with confidence, and won’t be caught off guard by rules they never saw.
AFP-OK’s Roadmap for Regulatory Reform included creating the portal. AFP recommends a model policy that would require state agencies to publish federal and state guidance online.
AFP-OK State Director John Tidwell released the following statement:
“One of the big lessons from the 2026 election is that affordability is paramount to so many voters. A big part of that is the success that small businesses can achieve through transparency issues, like Guidance Transparency, the cost of government rulemaking, REINS and the like that are critical for businesses to plan for the future.
“This is a major step forward for transparency in our state’s government. Oklahomans deserve to know the rules and directives that affect their lives, their businesses, and their communities. That kind of transparency brings certainty. When people can see the rules up front, they can make decisions with confidence instead of guessing what the government expects of them.
“Guidance.ok.gov puts this information in one easy-to-use place where anyone can find it. AFP-OK thanks Gov. Kevin Stitt, Sec. of State Ben Lepak, Sen. Bergstrom, Rep. Hall, Rep. Gerrid Kendrix for making our government more open and accountable. We also thank House Speaker Kyle Hilbert for making this a caucus priority, and Senate Pro Tem Lonnie Paxton and Sen. Julie Daniels for their tireless commitment to this issue over the last decade. We’re proud Oklahoma is leading the nation on this issue.”
