AFP-OK Applauds Governor Stitt for Signing Bill Raising Parental Choice Tax Credit

Americans for Prosperity-Oklahoma (AFP-OK) applauded Gov. Kevin Stitt on Tuesday for signing recently passed legislation that raises the state’s yearly Parental Choice Tax Credit. The bill raises the cap on the tax credit from $250 million to $275 million, expanding education options for families in the Sooner State.

The tax credit, which services tens of thousands of students every year, is a crucial component for Oklahoma parents who want the best education possible for their children. On average, each child who participates receives approximately a tax credit for around $6,300, which helps to cover the cost of private school tuition.

AFP-OK State Director John Tidwell issued the following statement:

“Raising the cap on the tax credit has been one of our top priorities this year, and thanks to AFP-OK’s tireless work beneath the dome, the legislature moved the bill across the finish line. Both Governor Stitt and our lawmakers deserve a huge thank you, as does our team whose advocacy work made it possible.

“The future of Oklahoma’s success depends on parents having a robust selection of options available when it comes to their children’s education. One-size-fits-all approaches don’t work. Every parent knows what’s best for their child, and we owe it to those parents to provide the means of securing a good future for their child. The Parental Choice Tax Credit is here to stay, and I look forward to seeing families continue to benefit from the program.”
