AFP-OH Welcomes Focus on Medicaid Oversight and Fiscal Sustainability

COLUMBUS, OH – Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) today welcomed renewed attention on strengthening oversight and accountability within Ohio’s Medicaid program, following today’s discussion led by Vivek Ramaswamy and Senate President Rob McColley on the importance of reform-oriented solutions.

AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil issued the following statement:

“As Medicaid spending continues to rise, Ohio leaders must remain focused on transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability. We appreciate today’s focus on reform-oriented solutions that protect taxpayer dollars while preserving resources for the Ohioans who rely on these programs most.

“AFP-OH has consistently supported efforts to improve transparency, strengthen oversight, and ensure long-term fiscal sustainability within the Medicaid system. Earlier this legislative session, we testified in support of stronger fraud, waste, and abuse protections, and also supported the inclusion of performance audit funding in the state budget to help identify efficiencies and improve accountability across state government.

“We welcome continued conversations around practical reforms that increase transparency, modernize oversight, and ensure Ohio’s Medicaid program remains fiscally sustainable for the future.”
