AFP-OH: On Tax Day, Ohio Must Double-Down on Cutting State Taxes

Americans for Prosperity Press Release

COLUMBUS, OH – Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) celebrated Ohio’s rank of 15th on a new index of states’ economic outlook today and called for further tax relief for Ohioans as they pay federal taxes on Wednesday.

The new “Rich States, Poor States” index by the American Legislative Exchange Council moved Ohio up to 15th from last year’s ranking of 25th – the largest jump on the list by any state this year – following the Ohio legislature’s passage of a new 2.75% flat tax rate.

Donovan O’Neil, AFP-OH state director, gave the following statement:

“Tax Day this year will hurt a little bit less for Ohioans thanks to our new flat tax rate that keeps more of their hard-earned dollars out of government coffers. Our massive jump in economic competitiveness this year shows that bold tax reforms like a low, flat income tax empowers citizens, families, and businesses to thrive.

“AFP-OH fought for years to protect Ohioans from burdensome income taxes, and we will double down on our Buckeye Blueprint agenda to make Ohio the most free and prosperous state in the Union.”
