COLUMBUS, OH – Americans for Prosperity-OH (AFP-OH) this week testified before the Ohio House Government Oversight Committee and House Energy Committee in support of reforms aimed at lowering costs, strengthening long-term economic stability, and improving affordability for Ohio families.
AFP-OH Legislative Director Hannah Kubbins delivered proponent testimony on House Concurrent Resolutions 24 and 35, highlighting the need for fiscal responsibility, permitting reform, and long-term structural solutions that protect taxpayers and reduce financial burdens on working families.
“As Ohio families continue facing higher costs, lawmakers must remain focused on policies that improve affordability, strengthen economic opportunity, and ensure government is operating responsibly,” said AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil. “Whether it’s addressing unsustainable federal debt or modernizing our energy permitting system, these reforms are about creating a stronger, more affordable future for Ohioans.”
In testimony supporting H.C.R. 24, AFP-OH emphasized the growing national debt as both an economic and national security concern, warning that rising federal spending and interest costs threaten long-term fiscal stability and increase financial pressure on states and taxpayers.
AFP-OH also urged support for H.C.R. 35, which calls for reforms to the federal energy permitting process. The organization highlighted how permitting delays drive up energy costs, slow infrastructure development, and limit economic growth and job creation across Ohio.
“Permitting reform and fiscal discipline are fundamentally affordability issues,” O’Neil added. “Ohioans are paying the price for government inefficiency, delayed infrastructure, and unsustainable spending. We support practical reforms that reduce costs, increase accountability, and help build a more reliable economic future.”
