AFP-OH Applauds Sen. Husted’s Support for ACCESS Act to Expand Veterans’ Health Care Choice

COLUMBUS, OH – During a statewide telephone town hall hosted by Americans for Prosperity-OH (AF-OH)’s sister organization Concerned Veterans for America (CVA), U.S. Senator Jon Husted discussed his support for the ACCESS Act, legislation aimed at expanding veterans’ access to community care and improving accountability within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The legislation would strengthen and codify community care access standards, helping ensure veterans can more easily receive care from local doctors and providers when the VA is unable to meet their needs in a timely manner. Sen. Husted also emphasized the importance of reducing delays in care for veterans facing chronic illness, mental health challenges, addiction, and other serious conditions.

AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil issued the following statement:

“Ohio veterans deserve timely access to quality care without being trapped in bureaucratic delays and unnecessary red tape. Senator Husted’s support for the ACCESS Act is an important step toward ensuring veterans can access the care they’ve earned in their own communities. We appreciate his commitment to advancing reforms that increase accountability, expand choice, and put veterans first.”

During the town hall, Sen. Husted stated:

“No veteran, especially one facing severe illness, addiction, chronic pain, or mental health conditions, should have to wait weeks or months for care.”
