Concord, New Hampshire — Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) is voicing strong support for HB 1734 and HB 1735, which aim to expand access to cutting-edge medical treatments and position New Hampshire as a national leader in healthcare innovation. Right to Try legislation has already provided hope to thousands of terminally ill patients across the country.
AFP-NH Deputy State Director Sarah Scott said:
“For many, these measures represent a last chance when no approved treatments remain. HB 1734 and HB 1735 empower patients facing serious illnesses to pursue potentially life-saving treatments while positioning our state at the forefront of medical innovation. When patients have exhausted all approved options, they deserve every opportunity to fight for their lives, and these bills help make that possible.
“Passing Right to Try policies is personal for many in our community. We recently lost Michael Yakubovich, a tireless advocate who fought to expand access to treatments even as he was battling cancer himself. Michael testified, organized, and pushed for Right to Try policies so others would have hope when options ran out. He reminded us that these policies are about real people, real families, and the chance to keep fighting. His legacy is a powerful reminder of why this work matters.”
Background on HB 1734 and HB 1735:
HB 1734 will authorize the establishment of experimental treatment centers, which will position New Hampshire as a hub for medical innovation and attract biotechnology investment.
HB 1735 will expand New Hampshire’s existing Right to Try law so that patients with severe or debilitating illnesses may access investigational treatments when approved options have failed.
