AFP-Mississippi Applauds Gov. Reeves for Prioritizing Core Infrastructure Investments

JACKSON, MS – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Mississippi (AFP-MS) praised Governor Tate Reeves for directing more than $23 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) federal funds toward critical infrastructure projects across Mississippi.

The funding announcement includes investments across the state in core government functions that taxpayers expect public dollars to support: water systems, sewer improvements, drainage projects, and road infrastructure.

AFP-MS State Director Starla Brown said:

“Local projects are best funded and managed at the local level. However, AFP-MS applauds Governor Reeves for demonstrating sound stewardship and prioritizing investments in essential infrastructure rather than politically fashionable spending projects that do little to improve Mississippians’ quality of life. Mississippi’s focus on foundational infrastructure is a far better use of these funds than many of the wasteful and performative projects we see elsewhere around the country.

“These federal funds will empower communities to move important projects forward, improve daily life, and create stronger, more resilient local economies. AFP-MS will continue to advocate for responsible use of taxpayer dollars that will improve Mississippians’ everyday life.”
