AFP-MI Slams Gavin Newsom for Coming to Michigan to Push His Failed California Agenda

LANSING, MI — This weekend, California Governor Gavin Newsom arrived in Michigan to campaign for Democrats who are already pushing Michigan in the wrong direction, while promising even more backward governance. Newsom will assuredly discuss his misguided policies that have hampered California, as he joins gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson, candidates for the House of Representatives, and other Democrats.

While Newsom pushes his big-government, socialist-aligned agenda, Michigan families know that real prosperity comes from empowering individuals, not expanding government control.

AFP-MI State Director Tim Golding issued the following statement:

“Michigan families certainly don’t need policy guidance from Gavin Newsom.

“Under his leadership, California has become a cautionary tale with skyrocketing costs, surging capital flight as businesses flee the state, and sky-high government spending that ultimately leaves working families behind. Now he and Michigan Democrats want to import that failure here.

“By supporting candidates like Abdul El-Sayed, Newsom is making clear that the Democratic Party will be embracing the socialist left rather than the working families, small business owners, and job creators who built this state.

“AFP-MI will continue fighting for policies that lower costs, grow opportunity, and keep the government out of the way.”
