CARSON CITY, NV—Yesterday, AFP-Nevada and The LIBRE Initiative-Nevada activists testified before the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services in support of SB 295, legislation to remove state and local burdens on street food vendors and entrepreneurs across Nevada.

SB 295 seeks to remove harmful occupational licensing requirements to improve both job opportunities and consumer access in our great state. Introduced by Senators Donate and Edgar Flores, AFP-Nevada urges the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services to pass this bill.

“Nevada should be a state that welcomes entrepreneurs trying to earn income as sidewalk food vendors. But currently, burdensome occupational licensing requirements are preventing Nevadans from chasing their American Dream,” said AFP-Nevada State Director Ronnie Najarro. “SB 295 and the work of Senators Donate and Flores helps reduce government oversight in the lives of Nevadans, making small business entrepreneurship in food services more attainable.”

Eddie Diaz, LIBRE-NV Strategic Director, also said: “Street vendors are hardworking entrepreneurs who contribute to the vibrancy of our communities and local economies. SB 295 ensures they have a fair and transparent pathway to operate legally, support their families, and serve their customers without unnecessary barriers. By modernizing outdated regulations, this bill promotes economic opportunity while maintaining important health and safety standards. The LIBRE Initiative is proud to support this bill, and we urge lawmakers to pass it to empower hardworking entrepreneurs across the state.”
