Topeka, KS—Americans for Prosperity-Kansas (AFP-KS) is applauding the passage of SB 259 and the House version, HB 2813, which would establish a mechanism for reducing Kansas income tax rates based on revenue performance, with reductions continuing until rates reach a specified minimum.

Following the passage by the Kansas House and Senate, AFP-KS said that this legislation would strengthen economic growth by providing a sustainable path to tax relief, lowering income tax rates, and supporting long-term budget planning.

AFP-KS State Director, Elizbeth Patton, made the following statement:

“We are glad to see a majority of lawmakers support the tax buy back plan and show a commitment to fiscal responsibility for Kansas. Topeka needs to deliver more economic relief to hardworking Kansans and SB 259 and HB 2813 is a step in the right direction, paving the way for lower income taxes and long-term budget planning that ensures we avoid revenue shortfalls, a burden often felt hardest by working class families across our state. Our lawmakers are making good on their promise to lower the cost-of-living for Kansas families and coming up with smart responsible tax form that makes our state competitive and grow our economy by giving taxpayers more of their hard money instead of spending it and growing government.”

AFP-KS has been utilizing its grassroots capability to connect with voters and bring their concerns about the cost-of-living to legislators. In addition, AFP-KS has testified in support of SB 259 and HB 2813 before the committees.
