AFP Day of Action Urges 300,000+ Americans to Support TCJA

Jun 23, 2025 by AFP

ARLINGTON, VA — This past Saturday, June 21, Americans for Prosperity held a National Day of Action urging Americans across the country to contact their lawmakers and demand support for the renewal of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). The Day of Action is part of AFP’s national Protect Prosperity campaign to make key provisions in the TCJA permanent.

Failure to renew the TCJA would result in the largest tax increase in history, causing the average American family to pay $1,500 more on their annual federal taxes. Americans can’t afford a tax hike, and AFP activists have been laser-focused on talking to voters about the importance of passing the Trump tax cuts.

On Saturday alone, AFP activists across the country:

  • Held 39 events advocating for TCJA.
  • Made more than 300,000 voter contacts urging support of the Trump tax cuts

AFP Managing Director Kent Strang released the following statement:

“If Congress fails to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, it will result in the largest tax hike in American history. Americans cannot afford congressional inaction. That’s why AFP’s grassroots army spent their Saturday speaking with voters about the importance of renewing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

“As the Senate meets this week on President Trump’s reconciliation bill, we hope lawmakers will keep in mind the nearly quarter of a million Americans AFP reached out to this weekend and what $1,500 in savings means to the average family.”

Background:

Earlier this month, AFP CEO Emily Seidel urged Congress to pursue fiscal restraint while keeping focused on preserving the TCJA for American families. AFP also praised the introduction of President Trump’s rescission package

Last month, AFP Senior Fellow in Fiscal Policy Kurt Couchman penned an op-ed in the Daily Caller urging Congress to approve the President’s spending cuts.

Since the launch of AFP’s “Protect Prosperity” campaign, AFP has been a driving force in securing the permanent extension of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act and advancing this legislation:

  • Holding more than 500 events and ralliesacross the country with dozens of lawmakers,
  • Reaching out to more than 250,000 voters in key Congressional districts over during National Days of Action and grassroots outreach,
  • Millions of dollars in ads and testimonials,
  • More than 1,000 meetings with key legislators and Hill staff,
  • And comprehensive pollingin partnership with Public Opinion Strategies.

AFP will continue to leverage its unparalleled grassroots infrastructure to show the overwhelming support for extending the Trump tax cuts and send a message to Republican lawmakers that the American people are with them and now is the time to deliver.
