DENVER, CO — Americans for Prosperity–Colorado (AFP-CO) today thanked Governor Jared Polis for vetoing legislation that would have undermined worker freedom and limited opportunities for Colorado workers.
AFP-CO Deputy State Director Brittany Trujillo issued the following statement:
“AFP thanks Gov. Polis for vetoing this deeply flawed legislation and defending the rights of Colorado workers. This bill would have jeopardized worker freedom, limited opportunity and imposed unnecessary barriers on individuals trying to earn a living and provide for their families.
“While we don’t always agree, the veto was the right decision for Colorado. Protecting workers’ ability to make their own choices and pursue economic opportunities is critical to keeping our state competitive and ensuring our economy continues to grow.
“Coloradans deserve policies that empower individuals, not ones that restrict flexibility or tilt the playing field against workers. This veto sends an important signal that worker freedom still matters in Colorado.
“AFP-CO remains committed to working with leaders of both parties to advance solutions that expand opportunity, remove barriers to work and put Coloradans on a path to greater prosperity.”
AFP-CO previously urged Polis to reject the legislation, warning that it would harm workers and reduce economic flexibility across the state.
The organization will continue advocating for policies that protect worker choice, promote economic growth, and ensure Colorado remains a place where individuals can succeed on their own terms.
