AFP-Arkansas Applauds Failure of Controversial Education Rights Amendment to Qualify for Ballot

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. —Americans for Prosperity Arkansas (AFP-AR) applauded a win for children and parents after organizers of the controversial and highly debated Arkansas Education Rights Amendment announced they would not be able to submit enough signatures to place the measure on the November ballot.

This marks the second consecutive attempt in which the measure has failed to qualify for the ballot. The proposed amendment would have rolled back important educational choices available to Arkansas families.

AFP-AR was proud to support the Arkansans for Students and Educators Ballot Question Committee, and the many citizens who worked to educate Arkansans about the consequences of this amendment.

Ryan Norris, State Director for AFP-AR, released the following statement:

“The inability of this proposal to qualify for the ballot reflects a broader trend in Arkansas: families increasingly value educational freedom and want more opportunities—not fewer—to choose the educational path that best serves their children.

“This outcome gives Arkansas the opportunity to continue improving education through innovation, accountability, and expanded educational freedom rather than returning to policies that would limit opportunity. We look forward to working with state leaders to build on the progress Arkansas has already made.”
