Trenton, NJ — Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) applauds Governor Mikie Sherrill for signing S731, the Data Center Fair Share Act, which will create a new ratepayer class and rate structure for data centers to ensure they pay for their own energy.
AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly said:
“AFP has been steadfast that data centers must pay their own way to ensure costs are not shifted onto New Jersey families’ utility bills. Governor Sherrill delivered on this principle today, creating a new rate structure that will ensure innovation stays in the Garden State while lowering costs for families. Instead of enacting a moratorium that would have chased investment and jobs to other states, New Jersey chose prosperity. AFP is proud to have advocated for this approach and applauds Governor Sherrill for taking action to ensure the Garden State remains competitive.”
