Dear Representative,
On behalf of Americans for Prosperity and the grassroots activists across the country we represent, we urge you to support H.R. 4776, the “Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development Act,” or the SPEED Act, introduced Chairman Bruce Westerman of Arkansas and Representative Jared Golden of Maine.
The SPEED Act delivers much-needed improvements to the National Environmental Policy Act by establishing clear timelines and predictable processes for project reviews, limiting analysis to environmental effects with a direct causal relationship to the proposed action, and allowing agencies to rely on equivalent state and Tribal reviews to reduce duplication. It also affirms that NEPA is a procedural statute that cannot be weaponized to block otherwise lawful projects through excessive analysis and implements appropriate reforms to the judicial review process.
AFP urges you to “YES” on H.R. 4776, the “Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development Act,” on final passage in the House of Representatives.
