Number 3: rules will make America less competitive in the global marketplace
Let’s take a step back from our focus on Nebraska; we need to look at the global picture.
Of the more than 30 billion metric tons of global CO2 emissions in 2011, the U.S. share was just over 5 billion – little more than half of the nearly 9 billion created by China – and China produces and consumes almost as much coal as the rest of the world combined.
Why should America impose restrictive bureaucratic rules that hamstring our own job creators and raise the utility bills of working Americans while countries like China benefit from the relatively unrestricted use of and access to cheap, abundant energy?
