Richmond event will bring together hundreds of grassroots activists for skill-building, inspiration.

Arlington, Va. — Americans for Prosperity announced today that Vice President Mike Pence will address hundreds of the group’s grassroots volunteers at its signature annual event, the Defending the American Dream Summit ®, being held for the first time in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday, August 19.

The 11th annual Summit is the organization’s centerpiece grassroots event. Each summer, hundreds of volunteers who fight for limited government across the country come together at the Summit to: celebrate recent policy victories; sharpen their grassroots advocacy skills; attend hands-on breakout sessions; network with their peers; and hear from prominent thought leaders across the conservative movement.

The vice president will take the main stage at the convention-style event alongside the previously announced Virginia House Speaker-Designee Kirk Cox, long-time freedom defender Ed Gillespie; Federal Communications Commissioner Chairman Ajit Pai; Steve Forbes; and many more.

Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips had this to say:

“Vice President Pence hasn’t just talked about freedom; he’s had the hard job of defending freedom as the governor of a state. He knows first-hand what kind of determination it takes to realize our free-market ideals. I can’t think of anyone better to address this group and leave them with the right advice to make a difference in advancing a free society.”

Pence and others will be speaking at the Marriott Richmond Downtown on August 19.
