(February 4, 2014) NASHVILLE – Americans for Prosperity – Tennessee (AFPTN) is pleased to announce the passage of the Stop ObamaCare Act through the Insurance and Banking Committee. Representative Jeremy Durham’s HB 937 continues to gain momentum and support from legislators.

The bill prohibits Medicaid Expansion as mandated by ObamaCare unless authorized by the Tennessee legislature. The United States Supreme Court ruled the mandatory expansion of Medicaid in the states as unconstitutional.

Rep. Durham stated, “Before Tennessee endures another fiscal disaster like we had in 2005 the legislature would have the chance to stop any expansion of Medicaid pursuant to the Affordable Care Act.”

“Taking into account the research showing Medicaid expansion under ACA will reduce incentives to work and limit job opportunities every state should stand together to stop the further implementation of ObamaCare in their state,” said AFPTN State Director Andrew Ogles. “Obama’s failed policy is causing us to hemorrhage jobs, about 2.3 million by 2021, and will add another trillion dollars to our national deficit.”
