Madison, WI — On Wednesday, the Wisconsin State Assembly Energy and Utilities Committee passed AB 470, “Right of First Refusal” legislation, which eliminates competition in the utility sector and risks yet another rate hike for Wisconsinites.
Americans for Prosperity – Wisconsin (AFP-WI) State Director Megan Novak made the following statement:
“We are disappointed in the committee members who sided with utility companies over hardworking ratepayers like you and me. Supporting an anti-competitive measure that eliminates the possibility of rate cuts for Wisconsinites is bad policy that leaves Wisconsinites worse off.
“AFP will continue to educate Wisconsinites on this important issue and urge lawmakers to oppose any further action on the right of first refusal legislation that puts Wisconsinites last.”
Background:
AFP-WI has been a leading voice in opposition to right of first refusal legislation that risks rate hikes for Wisconsinites and eliminates competition. AFP-WI State Director testified in opposition to this bill last month. Read AFP-WI’s full full testimony HERE.
