After months of educating Missouri voters and mobilizing hundreds of activists to contact legislators, AFP is proud to congratulate the Show Me State for sending paycheck protection legislation to the governor’s desk with a veto-proof majority.
The grassroots played a major role in this victory for workplace fairness, and it is a crucial step toward important labor reform.
“It is a momentous day for Missouri workers,” said Deputy State Director Rachel Payton. “After the overwhelming support for the paycheck protection bill in the House, it only made sense for the Senate to listen to constituents asking for fairness in the workplace.”
Thanks to this legislation, union members will have a greater say in how their hard-earned money is spent, and public-sector unions will be held to the same standard as private unions. In light of this success, AFP-Missouri will continue its fight to bring Right to Work and other labor reforms to the state.
