(January 15, 2014) NASHVILLE – Americans for Prosperity – Tennessee (AFPTN) announces support for Senate Bill 1680, filed by Senator Mae Beavers and Representative Mark Pody. The Tennessee Healthcare Freedom and ACA Noncompliance Act filed this morning seeks to stop federal overtake of healthcare in Tennessee.

The act prohibits the federal government from using state resources to enforce or implement ObamaCare mandates. “This is a good first step in the right direction,” said AFPTN State Director Andrew Ogles. “We all understand that ObamaCare is a failed policy and these legislators are to be commended for listening to their constituents and doing everything in their power to derail ObamaCare in Tennessee.”

“The federal government wants a monopoly on health care coverage,” said Senator Beavers. “It’s time that Tennessee says no to assisting them in the implementation of this disastrous program. This legislation takes a very strong stand to resist this federal overreach of power.”

“This action, especially in conjunction with similar steps being taken in other states, has the effect of nullifying ObamaCare,” added Rep. Pody. “If the feds cannot even build an appropriate website or keep their promises to consumers, they will be extremely hard-pressed to implement the other provisions for this program within our boundaries.”

Senator Beavers already has a strong majority of senators backing her in support of this bill. Representative Pody is working on the conservative majority in the House.
