“State representatives and business group leaders to stand against HB 907 `UBER’ Bill”
ATLANTA – Americans For Prosperity Georgia, the state’s premiere organization for economic freedom, will host a “Free Markets & Innovation” press conference in opposition to House Bill 907. The legislation seeks to heavily restrict Ride Share referral service providers like UBER and Lyft that offer mobile device based concierge services to riders trying to get from point A to point B. The service is an example of free market innovation at work to build a better gadget.
Speakers include Americans For Prosperity’s Joel Aaron Foster, Technology Association of Georgia’s Tino Mantella, Buckhead Young Republican’s Greg Williams, State Representative Chuck Martin, Ride Share drivers and others.
When: Wednesday, February 26th, 1:30pm-2:00pm
Where: Georgia State Capitol Rotunda – 2nd Floor
“Companies like UBER and Lyft represent true free market success stories of entrepreneurial innovation to meet a need that consumers are responding to in Georgia. Competitors should embrace these same innovative examples to adapt to changing marketplace dynamics, not turn to government to try and regulate the competition out of existence. This tendency to use government force is stifling to free market competition. This is tantamount to the horse buggy manufacturer trying to stamp out Henry Ford.
