The Arizona chapter of Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFPF-Arizona) has launched a long-term program – the Liberty and Prosperity Initiative — to bring promising college and high school students (and some young veterans) into the free-market movement, educate them on the basic principles of a free society, and train them to engage in grassroots activism.
For its inaugural event, the Liberty and Prosperity Initiative brought over 70 college and high school students to Scottsdale for a weekend training seminar March 27-29, 2015. Thanks to the generosity of AFPF donors, the entire weekend seminar (including lodging, meals, and a gas allowance for students residing outside of Maricopa County) was free of charge for participants.
On Saturday, March 28, the seminar featured speakers from the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE). During the first day of lectures and break-out sessions, FEE’s scholars gave students a strong introduction to the philosophy and history of freedom, as well as a crash course in the basics of free-market economics — ideas that students are too often prevented from hearing on their college and high school campuses.
On Sunday, March 29, the seminar featured trainers from AFP Foundation’s own Grassroots Leadership Academy (GLA). In the GLA program, students learned state-of-the-art grassroots organizing techniques and technologies, and learned about why community organizing is so crucial to promoting free-market policies. We also explained to the students how they can enroll in GLA’s multi-week on-the-ground training and certification program.
As the nation’s premier grassroots educational organization, AFP Foundation is uniquely qualified to equip young people with the grassroots “ground game” strategies and tactics necessary to turn America away from the socialistic policies of the Left and onto a path to sustained freedom and prosperity.
