Dear Representatives:
On behalf of more than two million Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I urge you to support Rep. Roe’s Preventing Greater Uncertainty in Labor-Management Relations Act (H.R. 1120). This bill would freeze all of the activities by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that require a full quorum and uphold the system of checks and balances in Washington.
I urge you to vote YES on H.R. 1120, Rep. Roe’s bill to freeze all NLRB activities while its unconstitutional appointees are still on the board. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.
On January 4, 2012, President Obama unconstitutionally appointed three people to the NLRB, the agency that oversees union-organizing elections. This past January, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the President’s appointments, finding them to be unconstitutional because the President made these appointments when the Senate was not actually in recess. Rep. Roe’s legislation would stop the NLRB from operating with this illegitimate, unconstitutional membership.
The NLRB is supposed to be an independent agency, not a partisan arm of the Obama administration whose activities favor union interests over management. I urge you keep our system of check and balances in place and stand up against the President when he exceeds his constitutional authority. President Obama should not be allowed to advance his policy goals by working around Congress and the Constitution.
I urge you to vote YES on H.R. 1120, Rep. Roe’s bill to freeze all NLRB activities while its unconstitutional appointees are still on the board. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.
