Montgomery, AL – This week, Americans for Prosperity – Alabama (AFP-AL) State Director, Adam Thompson, joined Sheila Banister, host of the “Bama Knows Education” podcast, for a conversation on the importance of expanding education options in Alabama. They discussed AFP-AL’s mission to empower students and their families by allotting them more ownership over their educational success. Recognizing that education is not one-size-fits-all, AFP-AL advocates for policies that ensure every student, regardless of zip code, has the opportunity to choose the right educational path for their specific needs.
“Education is paramount to us at AFP. We believe families should be in control, and students should be in control of their educational journey. There are no one-size-fits-all options, and the top-down solutions do not work,” Thompson told Banister.
Thompson and Banister made sure to highlight Alabama’s CHOOSE Act, which was a landmark law championed by AFP-AL and passed to make education savings accounts (ESAs) available to support the success of students in the state. On the podcast, Thompson explained how students can use this credit to pursue a wide range of opportunities that contribute to their long-term educational success and debunked misconceptions about the new law.
“It’s not about the politics, the policies, the funding; it’s about making sure every single child in this state has that opportunity to be successful in whatever it is they want to do, and figure out what they want to do,” said Thompson.
