Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina Releases Statement Following Greenville Sales Tax Vote

Nov 6, 2024 by AFP

Greenville, SC—Following the recent proposal for a penny sales tax in Greenville, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) highlighted how taxes already devoted to funding infrastructure updates in the state made the measure unreasonable and unnecessary for residents. AFP-SC also noted how the increased cost-of-living due to high inflation already strains the budgets of hardworking families.

Since the proposal in early October, AFP-SC has activated its grassroots base to educate thousands of voters in Greenville County about the importance of voting no on this proposal.

AFP-SC Director of Public Affairs, Candace Carroll, released the following statement:

“AFP is glad to see the burden to improve state infrastructure will not be put on South Carolinians as Greenville already receives millions of dollars in transportation revenue that could and should be used for road repairs. We want to promote policies that ensure families are keeping more of their hard-earned money by flattening the tax code over time, not covering the government’s bill for roadway expenses, and today’s decision was a promising step in the right direction.”
