JACKSON, MS – Today, Americans for Prosperity – Mississippi (AFP-MS) is announcing the promotion of Stone Clanton as the new AFP-MS Director of Grassroots Operations. Clanton previously served as a Grassroots Engagement Director.
AFP-MS State Director, Starla Brown, released the following statement:
“We are excited for Stone to step into his new role of Director of Grassroots Operations. Throughout his time serving as a Grassroots Engagement Director, he demonstrated his knowledge and passion for building coalitions to positively impact communities across Mississippi. I am confident he will bring this same passion as he takes on a larger role in our organization.”
Biography
A lifelong resident of Franklin County, Stone Clanton joined the AFP-MS team in March 2022 as the central region Grassroots Engagement Director. This move occurred after years of volunteering with the organization on issues such as Initiative 65, grassroots efforts to repeal the state’s certificate of need regulatory laws and fighting an increase on the gas tax. As a Grassroots Engagement Director, Clanton helped build a broad, diverse grassroots base and expanded the chapter into areas of the state that had never been touched to educate residents of the Magnolia State on the issues that affect them.
Clanton joined AFP-MS, initially, to work past hyper partisanship and to help pass transformative policy that empowers fellow Mississippians. Before joining AFP-MS, he worked as a political activist, as a communications specialist, as a government aide, and as a journalist.
