AFP-Louisiana Releases 2024 Scorecard, Announces ‘Route for the Boot’ Tour to Recognize Top Policy Champions

AFP-LA Sees More than 50 State Legislators Obtain Perfect Score on Top Legislative Issues

BATON ROUGE, LA—Today, Americans for Prosperity-Louisiana (AFP-LA) released its 2024 Legislative Scorecard, highlighting state lawmakers’ votes during the past legislative session and thanking top policy champions for their work to remove barriers for Louisianians to live and work more freely. The scorecard features grading on 11 bills that AFP-LA focuses its legislative priorities on from education, labor, to insurance and more. In the coming weeks, AFP-LA plans to hold a ‘Route for the Boot’ statewide tour to recognize A+ legislators from the scorecard.

AFP-LA State Director, Scott Simon, released the following statement:

“The work we saw out of Baton Rouge this year made incredible strides for our state as a whole. We are incredibly thankful for the commitment to principled policy reform by our state legislators, many of whom worked with our grassroots base to ensure that Louisiana is transforming for the better.

“This scorecard will serve as an accountability tool for voters throughout the state, taking note of leaders who made opportunities to stand for education freedom, worker rights, and economic prosperity possible. AFP-LA looks forward to addressing the work that remains to be done in our great state.”

AFP-LA Scored the Following Bills:

  • HB 78, Authorizes initial proposals for charter schools with corporate partners to be made to the state board of elementary and secondary education as type 2 charter school proposals
  • HB 244, Expands the purpose of the Steve Carter literacy program to include educational services in math
  • HB 423, Provides for payment of recoverable medical expenses from collateral sources
  • HB 571, Provides relative to certain designated labor organization activities in employment and contracts
  • HB 701, Creates the insurance regulatory sandbox act
  • HB 716, Provides for universal recognition of occupational licenses
  • HB 745, Creates and provides for the LA GATOR scholarship program, a universal school choice program
  • HB 800, Provides for calling a limited constitutional convention
  • HB 933, Provides with respect to retail florists and wholesale florists
  • SB 60, Provides relative to occupational licenses
  • SB 313, Creates the Louisiana giving all true opportunity to rise (LA GATOR) scholarship program to provide education savings accounts for parental choice in K-12 education
