Bill Means More Transparency and Public Participation in Lawmaking
MADISON, WI – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin today announced its support for LRB-3260/1, a bill to improve transparency and increase public participation in the lawmaking process. The group cited as one reason for backing the measure recent efforts by special interests to harm hundreds of Wisconsin small businesses using closed-door procedural tricks.
“Sunlight is the best disinfectant,” said AFP-WI State Director Eric Bott. “As the recent sneak attack on Wisconsin microbreweries, wineries, and distilleries showed, special interests won’t hesitate to take advantage of secrecy to push their agenda at the expense of the little guy. By exposing more of the legislative process to public scrutiny, citizens will have a greater say in the laws they will live under. We thank Representative Allen and Senator Nass for their leadership on this issue and encourage all lawmakers to sign on as co-sponsors.”
