Americans for Prosperity Urges Lawmakers to Reject a Gas Tax Hike

Mar 11, 2021 by AFP

FRANKFORT, KY – Americans for Prosperity-Kentucky (AFP-KY) today issued a statement urging the Kentucky General Assembly to reject any attempts to raise the tax burden on hardworking families. This announcement comes as legislators consider including a gas tax increase in the Commonwealth’s budget to fund infrastructure projects. AFP-KY believes infrastructure can be strengthened without implementing a gas tax by prioritizing the use of existing revenue and reducing wasteful spending.

AFP-KY State Director Mike Conway issued the following statement:

“The last thing hardworking Kentuckians need right now is to pay more at the pump to get to work or to go buy groceries for their families. It’s time for our lawmakers to make tough spending decisions and prioritize what matters most, rather than making Kentuckians pick up the tab. Our activists look forward to encouraging their lawmakers to find more fiscally responsible solutions to our budget woes.”
