Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina Supports Rep. Mace’s States Reform Act as Step in Right Direction

Nov 15, 2021 by AFP

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Today, Americans for Prosperity-SC weighed in shortly after the introduction of U.S. Representative Nancy Mace’s States Reform Act. This bill would decriminalize cannabis at the federal level to restore states’ rights. The grassroots group believes it’s a step in the right direction for these key reasons:

  • Shifting power back to states will allow for state leaders to determine the best policies for cannabis governance in their states.
  • Veterans and patients will be provided with access to prescribed treatments without fear of losing employment.
  • Police officers can focus on their chief mission of promoting and protecting public safety.

AFP-South Carolina State Director Candace Carroll issued the following statement:

“Violent crime has seen a notable uptick recently, and that includes South Carolina. For those who want to support public safety, it’s imperative that we support decriminalizing cannabis so that police officers can focus on making our communities safer for our families.”

“Most Americans agree that decriminalization needs to happen now. We applaud Representative Mace and her colleagues for taking up this critical issue and look forward to supporting these efforts to advance federal cannabis reform.”
