Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina Statement on Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court Nomination

COLUMBIA, SC – Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina today praised President Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the United States Supreme Court.

Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina State Director Andrew Yates made the following statement:

“President Trump hit it out of the park with this nomination. Judge Brett Kavanaugh is an eminently qualified jurist with a stellar record of judicial restraint and fidelity to the United States Constitution. Judge Kavanaugh has demonstrated that he has the experience and the temperament to be an excellent Supreme Court Justice. AFP-South Carolina is proud to support this nomination and will mobilize our army of grassroots activists to confirm him to the bench swiftly.”

Background:

Brett Kavanaugh, a graduate of Yale Law School and former clerk to Justice Kennedy, received bipartisan support in 2006 for his confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. During his 12 years on the federal bench, Kavanaugh has demonstrated a commitment to the rule of law and is widely respected for his principled approach to interpreting the Constitution as written.
