Americans for Prosperity-Montana Denounces Lookalike Group

Apr 1, 2020 by AFP

Americans for Prosperity-Montana State Director David Herbst issued the following statement after learning about a television ad for Attorney General Tim Fox. The ad was created by an organization using an undeniably similar name to Americans for Prosperity:

“We are Americans for Prosperity-Montana. We do not operate using any other name. We are a state-wide, nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to removing barriers to opportunity and enabling every Montanan to achieve their American dream.

“Montanans may have seen a television ad recently from an organization using a name notably similar to AFP-Montana. To be clear: we did not create this ad and we did not endorse the candidate mentioned in the ad.

“When we engage in political races, we make our engagement known. We publicly announce our support for policy champions with track records of leadership on key issues. We engage on principles and seek to focus political conversations around policies that impact people.

“We encourage folks to get involved with Americans for Prosperity-Montana for information about tackling the toughest issues facing our state, as well as resources to help them and their families weather our current, unprecedented health and economic crisis.”
