Americans for Prosperity Comments on Senator Shaheen Letter to Federal HHS Calling to Speed Bringing ObamaCare to New Hampshire

MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) today commented on Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s letter to the federal Department of Health and Human Services asking them to expedite any waivers to implement the state’s plan to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, commonly called ObamaCare.

“While Senator Shaheen has been asking the federal government to delay some parts of ObamaCare, it’s striking that she has asked them to rush ahead the part that expands a Medicaid program that has already become unaffordable while offering substandard care,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director.  “Despite the fact that ObamaCare Medicaid expansion will mean longer waits in the emergency room for everyone in New Hampshire and could very well lead the state down the road to an income tax, Senator Shaheen is asking for an expedited waiver review, as opposed to going through the traditional due diligence to understand the long-term impact to the Medicaid program of this scheme.  After the series of unintended consequences and ‘passing the bill to find out what’s in it’ that we’ve already seen from ObamaCare, one has to wonder why Senator Shaheen would take this unusual step, other than for political reasons of having New Hampshire embrace one more piece of this disastrous law.”
