MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) offered the following comments in response to Governor Hassan’s announcement of the open enrollment period for the expanded Medicaid program under the Affordable Care Act, commonly called ObamaCare.

“While Governor Hassan is trying her best to put lipstick on a pig, the reality is that the plan that she announced the open enrollment period for today is the traditional Medicaid program, and nothing more,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director.  “This is the same Medicaid program that one in five doctors won’t accept and which national studies have demonstrated does not improve health outcomes.  While this is a tremendous expansion of the welfare state in New Hampshire under ObamaCare, it does not improve outcomes and it most certainly is not ‘affordable health care’ as the Governor suggests.  It will cost taxpayers nearly $350 million each year to provide substandard care.  This is setting our nation and state up for a fiscal train wreck without any significant benefit.”
