Americans for Prosperity-Colorado Announces Accountability Effort After Gas Tax Passes the State Senate

May 14, 2021 by AFP

DENVER – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Colorado (AFP-CO) announced plans to launch an accountability effort to supplement their existing efforts to cut the gas tax on the 2022 ballot.

AFP-CO State Director Jesse Mallory issued the following statement:

“The Colorado Senate rammed through likely the most unpopular, anti-taxpayer legislation of recent history today. Even after hours of testimony in committee from citizens who plead with lawmakers not to pass it. We fully intend on holding lawmakers accountable for this tax increase that will harm families across the state. Thank you to those who stood up against this and in support of taxpayers. Our activists will be out in full force across the state to educate Coloradans about who supported SB260 and ensure that we’re able to cut the gas tax on the ballot in 2022.”

Background:
Polling conducted by AFP-CO in February 2021 identified that constituents across the aisle are not supportive of this proposal.
