Jan 12, 2021 by AFP

PHOENIX, AZ—Americans for Prosperity-Arizona (AFP-AZ) today unveiled its 2019-2020 legislative session scorecard and announced its 2021 legislative session agenda entitled “Arizona’s Pathway to Prosperity.” In rolling out its legislative scorecard, AFP-AZ aims to enhance transparency and accountability between Arizonans and their elected officials. The scorecard also provides a helpful tool for Arizonans to see the meaningful reforms policymakers supported during the previous legislative session and encourage movement going into this year’s session.

AFP-AZ State Director Stephen Shadegg issued the following statement:

“Our goal at Americans for Prosperity is to amplify the voices of our activists across Arizona.  By providing a platform that promotes transparency between Arizonans and their policymakers, we’re fostering more productive conversations that result in the meaningful reforms our state needs to prosper.

“We hope our legislative agenda will encourage Arizonans to contact their legislators and encourage them to champion principled policy solutions to the challenges we face this year.”

AFP-AZ’s Pathway to Prosperity focuses on five key priorities:

  • Economic Opportunity for All Arizonans: Focusing on policy reforms that unleash opportunity by removing barriers to economic mobility and growth, whether that be through lowering the tax burden, reducing barriers to entering a profession and earning a living, or reducing red tape.
  • Educational Freedom and Opportunity: Encouraging lawmakers to champion microgrants and transportation options that allow families to access alternative learning opportunities can provide students the freedom to explore learning environments that build a strong foundation for a successful future.
  • Reforming our Criminal Justice System: By taking steps to make criminal justice data across our counties uniform through data transparency legislation and expanding earned release credits to prepare incarcerated individuals for reentry into our communities, we can help policymakers make informed reforms that lower recidivism rates.
  • Driving Arizona Forward Through Technology and Innovation: Protecting the rights and privacy of Arizonans by passing meaningful data privacy reforms that protect individuals’ digital information, keep it secure, and restrict law enforcement from improperly obtaining, accessing, or using a person’s digital information and advancing experimentation in developing driverless vehicles.
  • Increasing Access to Quality, Affordable Health Care: Improving health care across Arizona by unleashing the potential of telemedicine, allowing highly trained medical professionals across the country to treat patients, and removing other unnecessary restrictions that limit care.
