TOPEKA, KAN. – The Kansas chapter of the grassroots group Americans for Prosperity again thanks the members of the Kansas Congressional delegation who voted against the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014 this week.
“Half of our Kansas Congressional delegation stood up to more government spending by voting against the omnibus spending bill,” said AFP-Kansas state director Jeff Glendening. “This omnibus package simply amounts to more reckless spending by the federal government, as it included numerous budget bills rolled into one.
“This departure from the regular budget order is cause for concern as the quick passage of these bills did not allow for careful scrutiny of each line item.”
The Senate on Thursday passed the $1.1 trillion spending bill which was approved by the House earlier this week. It now goes to President Obama for his signature.
“We’re grateful that Senator Roberts, Rep. Mike Pompeo and Rep. Tim Huelskamp took a stand to vote against this unsustainable spending bill, and we thank them for recognizing the need for careful deliberation as to how our tax dollars are spent.”
