AFP-WI Urges Support for Tax Relief Bill

Feb 12, 2019 by AFP

MADISON, Wis. – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) on Tuesday issued a Key Vote Alert urging members of the Wisconsin Assembly to vote “Yes” on Assembly Bill 4. Assembly Bill 4 would provide much needed middle-class tax relief and put Wisconsin’s $588 million surplus back in the hands of hardworking Wisconsin taxpayers.

AFP-WI State Director Eric Bott issued the following statement:

“Tax relief puts more money in the pockets of Wisconsinites and empowers them to save or invest more in the things they care most about, like their families, communities, or businesses. It’s now more important than ever to double down on pro-growth polices of the last decade to give Wisconsinites greater opportunity to improve their lives.”

Assembly Bill 4, sponsored by legislative leadership, would put Wisconsin’s $588 million surplus back in the hands of hardworking Wisconsin taxpayers.

  • Assembly Bill 4 would increase the standard deduction for almost two million middle class filers.
  • The median joint filer under this proposal will see over $300 in relief and joint filers earning between $30,000 and $40,000 would see their tax liability cut almost in half.
  • This tax cut builds on the over $8 billion in tax relief passed in Wisconsin since 2011, ensuring fewer barriers to individuals and businesses prospering across the state.
