AFP-Virginia: Statement on Virginia Medicaid Expansion Votes
Feb 21, 2014 by AFP
Richmond—Americans for Prosperity-Virginia State Director Sean Lansing issued the following statement Thursday after both the Virginia House of Delegates and the Senate of Virginia voted on measures to expand Medicaid:
“Americans for Prosperity-Virginia applauds the 67 Delegates and 17 Senators who continued to fight for Virginia’s taxpayers and most vulnerable citizens by rejecting further implementation of President Obama’s disastrous health care law. No matter how some members of the General Assembly try and spin it, Marketplace Virginia is Medicaid expansion, and Medicaid expansion is ObamaCare. Those who voted to double down on President Obama and Governor McAuliffe’s terribly flawed plan for the future of health care in Virginia need to recognize the impact this law will have on our poorest and most vulnerable citizens. We hope they will reconsider and join their colleagues who are choosing to put people over politics by standing firmly against expanding this bloated and broken government program.”
